21 weeks! February 26, 2012

21 Weeks (February 26, 2012)
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 21 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a carrot. He is 10 1/2 inches in length and 3/4 of a pound.

How your baby's growing:
You may soon feel like he's practicing martial arts as he initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to his activity as you get to know him better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 20 lbs, as of my OB appt last week week. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: All maternity clothing with the exception to some sweat pants and hubby's clothing, lol.

Gender: Boy!!! Colin Wilson.

Movement: Yep, I felt him kick at work the other night and actually recognized that it was him. That made me happy. I'm still not feeling a ton of movement because my placenta is positioned anteriorly--hopefully I'll start feeling more soon.

What I miss: Moving better. I feel huge.

Sleep: Ok, I am getting uncomfortable and flip from side to side...often!

Symptoms: I pee a lot and I'm huge. It was raining this morning as I was leaving the hospital so we jogged to our cars--holy crap, a.) it felt like the baby was going to fall out and b.) I was huffing and puffing like a 4 pack a day smoker.

Cravings: I got my six boxes of girl scout cookies I ordered=happy preggo lady!

Best Moment this week: Feeling little man distinctively kick me.

What I am looking forward to: Feeling little man move around more often.

20 weeks! We skipped weeks 18 and 19!

20 Weeks (February 14, 2012)
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 20 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a banana! Remember how I kept saying that this baby was going to be big, and I was having a toddler?!? Well guess I was right because we had our anatomical ultrasound last week and baby measure not one but two weeks ahead so we jump straight from 18 weeks to 20 weeks.

How your baby's growing:
He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 20 lbs, as of my OB appt this week. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: All maternity clothing with the exception to some sweat pants and hubby's clothing, lol.

Gender: Boy!!! Colin Wilson.

Movement: A little here and there but nothing too consistent. Apparently my placenta is positioned anteriorly which means it blocks little man's kicks, but I do feel them every now and again.

What I miss: Sleeping well.

Sleep: Is ok, I have to be really tired to sleep through the night. I flip flop back and forth often, it drives me nuts.

Symptoms: I can eat now, I can actually finish full meals--it's wonderful. I also pee a lot and I am constantly out of breath after doing something so simple like walking from my car into the hospital. It's pathetic really.

Cravings: Grapes. I am on a grape kick!

Best Moment this week: Finding out little man is a boy and shopping with my wonderful Mom!

What I am looking forward to: Just this baby growing inside of me and making his big debut in a few more months!

17 weeks! February 7, 2012

17 Weeks (February 7, 2012)
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 17 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a turnip (mind you, our baby measured larger then the estimated 2 inches at our 10 weeks appt--I may or may not be giving birth to a toddler!). This is what babycenter.com has to say about Gummy Bear's journey:

How your baby's growing:
Your baby's skeleton is changing from soft cartilage to bone, and the umbilical cord — her lifeline to the placenta — is growing stronger and thicker. She can move her joints, and her sweat glands are starting to develop.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 12 lbs, as of my OB appt three weeks ago. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: Yup, aside from sweat pants almost everything I wear is maternity. Finally ordered some maternity scrub pants...thank goodness. I am so much more comfortable now!

Gender: Next week, next week, next week!!!! Woo-hoo!

Movement: Nope, not yet, but I'm excited for that to happen.

What I miss: Nothing really.

Sleep: Ok, I am getting uncomfortable and flip from side to side...often!

Symptoms: My main symptom is my hyper sensitive gag reflex. If I cough I gag--it's disgusting!

Cravings: Nothing lately, I am trying to eat healthier but it isn't working as well as I'd like it too.

Best Moment this week: Looking forward to next week, lol.

What I am looking forward to: The main thing I am looking forward to is finding out the baby's sex, I can't wait to find out if it is a little girl or a boy!

How Far Along: 16 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of an avocado (mind you, our baby measured larger then the estimated 2 inches at our 10 weeks appt--I may or may not be giving birth to a toddler!). This is what babycenter.com has to say about Gummy Bear's journey:

How your baby's growing:
His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 12 lbs, as of my OB appt two weeks ago. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: Yup, aside from sweat pants almost everything I wear is maternity. Finally ordered some maternity scrub pants...thank goodness. I am so much more comfortable now!

Gender: No idea. Hubby swears up and down it's a girl and one of the girls I work with swears up and down it's a boy--we'll find out on Feb 10. I do have nursery themes and names picked out for each sex!

Best Moment this week: A couple of pressies I ordered for baby bean arrived in the mail, I got so excited!

What I am looking forward to: The main thing I am looking forward to is finding out the baby's sex, I can't wait to find out if it is a little girl or a boy!

15 Weeks (January 24, 2012)
Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 15 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a apple (mind you, our baby measured larger then the estimated 2 inches at our 10 weeks appt--I may or may not be giving birth to a toddler!). This is what babycenter.com has to say about Gummy Bear's journey:

How your baby's growing:
She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 12 lbs, as of my OB appt last week. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: Yup, aside from sweat pants almost everything I wear is maternity. Still need to get to the store to get some maternity scrub pants because my regular ones leave a nice indentation around my big 'ol baby belly!

Gender: No idea. Hubby swears up and down it's a girl and one of the girls I work with swears up and down it's a boy--we'll find out on Feb 10. I do have nursery themes and names picked out for each sex!

Movement: Nope, not yet, but I'm excited for that to happen.

What I miss: Nothing really.

Symptoms: My main symptom is my hyper sensitive gag reflex. If I cough I gag--it's disgusting!

Cravings: Nothing lately, I am trying to eat healthier but it isn't working as well as I'd like it too.

Best Moment this week: Getting a full night of uninterrupted sleep, I think I was too tired to wake up and pee, lol.

What I am looking forward to: The main thing I am looking forward to is finding out the baby's sex, I can't wait to find out if it is a little girl or a boy!

How Far Along: 14 Weeks

Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a lemon (mind you, our baby measured larger then the estimated 2 inches at our 10 weeks appt--I may or may not be giving birth to a toddler!). This is what babycenter.com has to say about Gummy Bear's journey:

How your baby's growing:
Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I've gained 12 lbs, as of my OB appt this week. I worry that it is too much but my OB assured me that it is all good and to just relax, lol.

Maternity Clothes: Yup, aside from sweat pants almost everything I wear is maternity. I still need to order maternity scrubs, I mean we are getting down to the stitch, lol,

Gender: No idea--we'll find out on Feb 10. I do have nursery themes and names picked out for each sex!

Movement: Nope, not yet, but I'm excited for that to happen.

What I miss: Nothing really.

Sleep: Good, I usually wake up about 3 and a half hours after I fall asleep to pee and then another time before I wake up but I figure that isn't too bad.

Symptoms: My main symptom is my hyper sensitive gag reflex. If I cough I gag--it's disgusting!

Cravings: I'm still on the Mexican kick, love it!

Best Moment this week: Finding out that I am not gaining too much weight, lol.

What I am looking forward to: The main thing I am looking forward to is finding out the baby's sex, I can't wait to find out if it is a little girl or a boy!

M.I.A.

Yes I am well aware I have been M.I.A., my bad. Between working full time, going to school part time and being preggo full time I'm freaking exhausted, please excuse my absence.

I have been taking weekly pictures, I have not been filling out the questionnaire, fail. I will post the pictures sometime next week.

Today I had an ultrasound, you know, THE ultrasound. Without further ado, I have some new baby pictures from our ultrasound today:

In big news, introducing Colin Wilson:

Our due date was moved to July 2, because this little man is measuring big. Ending this pregnancy a little early is A ok with me. :)
