Letters to our Sons: June
My
Dearest Baby,
I
came across this quote “children become the things they see,” and it got me
thinking.
I hope you see joy, I hope
you see patience and most importantly, I hope you see love. This is what I want
you to become.
You’ve been here on this Earth
for a whole year now and for a whole year you have trusted me—I hope I haven’t
let you down. I have cared for you---held you when you cried, laughed with your
silly antics and nourished your growing body.
The question I have gotten
most with your birthday is when will I wean you— I generally answer oh sooner
or later, just give people an answer so they leave me alone, but the truth is
I’m not going too. You will wean when you are good and ready be that in a week
or in a year. For the last year of your life and even before that as you grew
in my womb I have let you call the shots in regards to your needs. My belly got
stretch marks as you putting on the weight you needed before you graced us with
your presence, my water broke when it was time for you to enter this world and
when you cried out of hunger and I happily feed you; why should this be any
different? I’m your Mommy and you need me, my goal is for you to grow and be
what you see well this for you my son is love. See this love and one day grow up
into the best Daddy you can be and I will know I’ve done my job.
I know without a doubt you
will not nurse forever. You will not come home from elementary school and have
a snack of cookies and breast milk, you will not run off the baseball diamond
and come over to nurse, I know this and for now you nurse—that’s ok. One day
our nursing time will be replaced with just snuggles before bed, and I will
savor those minutes as much as I savor these, but for now we nurse.
You are
my beautiful baby, continue to grow big and strong, Mommy and Daddy are so
proud of you.
I love
you to the moon and back,
Mommy

Letters to our Sons: May
My Dearest Baby,
You are 11 months, that is almost a year--how the heck did that
happen?!?! This past month has
probably been the biggest by means of developing. You say three different
words, Mama, Dada and Bye-Bye (so cute!). And besides talking, we officially
have a crawler on our hands and you are now into everything. Today you
discovered the fun of the toilet paper roll, last week it was the Tupperware
cabinet, everything is an adventure when you are new here.
You have so much personality, you are usually very happy and
excitable; however, you are quick to let us know if there is something you do
not like. You wake up beyond happy
(really a bit too happy for 6am but we deal with it) You will get in bed with
Daddy and I and jump up and down, climb on both of us, you greet the world each
day FULL of life!
You are my beautiful baby, continue to grow big and strong, Mommy
and Daddy are so proud of you.
I love you to the moon and back,
Mommy

Letters to our Sons: April
My Dearest Baby,
You are double digits and I cannot believe it! 10 months, how did
that happen?!? Just yesterday you were growing in my belly and now you are 10
months.
You make being your mommy the best thing ever. I spend every day
with you and love every minute of it. We sing songs, read books and have the
best time playing. This month you learned how to feed yourself, it isn't the most graceful thing to watch, we are still working on that dexterity thing, but if you want to eat it--you make it work! We put a few pieces of food on your plate and you proceed to grab it all into your little fist and aim for your mouth. Generally if you have 5 pieces in your hand you'll get one or two pieces in your mouth. It's very cute! We recently bought you a little pool and if it were up to
you all day would be spent in it. Being unhappy is nearly impossible around you
because you are sunshine. I hope you continue to be that happy forever and
always.
Continue to grow and thrive because the world is yours for the
taking little boy. Whatever you decide to be when you grow up we will support
you, all we ask is that you continue to be a good person.
You are my beautiful baby, continue to grow big and strong, Mommy
and Daddy are so proud of you.
I love you to the moon and back,
Mommy

Letters to our Sons: March
Seventeen
women all with two things in common, sons and a love of photography have
decided to participate in this "Letters to our Sons" circle. At
the end of my letter you will see a link to another blog. I invite you to
click on the link and continue reading the blogs until you complete the circle.
My
Dearest Baby,
You are now 9 months
old—I cannot believe it. You are getting more fun with each day.
When I was growing up
everyone told me to take my time starting a family because everything is harder
with a baby, they were 100% right. You and I went and had lunch last week and I
spent more time feeding you and intermittently scarfing my few bites, I used to
enjoy eating now it’s just means to nourishment. You are up bright and early
everyday and ready to get going (I am not nearly as bright and happy as you are).
I would kill for a bit more sleep. With all that being said, with life having
been so much easier 2 years ago, now I have a life worth living. I have purpose
everyday because of you, you are my little man, my sunshine and my baby.
As you grow up,
remember to take time to enjoy the little things in life because those things
truly are the big things.
You
are my beautiful baby, continue to grow big and strong, Mommy and Daddy are so
proud of you.
I
love you to the moon and back,
Mommy
Next in the circle is Bjorna Almaden, the two things we have in common is the love for our son and the love for photography. I invite you to follow the chain by visiting her link and read her letter to her son.
