9 Weeks (Dec 15, 2011)
Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 9 Weeks
Size of baby: According to babycenter.com the baby is about the size of a grape. This is what babycenter.com has to say about Gummy Bear's journey:
How your baby's growing:
Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Not quite sure but it's more then 5 lbs. I have an MD appt this coming week so we'll find out.
Maternity Clothes: Yep, hubby bought me jeans that I love love love! (Thanks honey.)
Gender: No idea--we'll find out on Valentine's Day!
Movement: Nope, not yet, but I'm excited for that to happen.
What I miss: Nothing really.
Sleep: Much better, but this time I've gone to the opposite end of the spectrum. Hubby made a joke about me hibernating.
Symptoms: I'm still peeing a lot and a bit nauseated by smells (which is not so kosher when you're a nurse)!
Cravings: Nothing really, I am eating a bit more then usual though!
Best Moment this week: Just knowing my little bean is growing!
What I am looking forward to: Our MD appt and ultrasound next week. I can't wait to see the little guy/girl again!
Here are the pictures of little Jelly Bean and her/his incubator for the next 9 months:
