I'm back!

I am not sure if I can promise to be back anytime soon, but...I'm here for now! I just wanted to write a quick update on things.

Phillip's Dad passed away on October 11, we had all spent the night before with him and he passed away peacefully on Oct 11 at 1228. It is incredibly sad, but honestly, it was a relief--it was time. He had been fighting for 10 months and 2 days on the day he passed away. We just got back last night from Michigan for his memorial service, then two weeks before that we went to Tennessee to spread his ashes. We are all thankful to be home and to be done with everything. Back to reality.

I am done with acute care...DONE! I missed at least half the lectures between September and now because of everything with Phillip's dad, spending time with him, back and forth between the hospital stays and then when he was in hospice. Well even though I missed all those lectures, it was one of my best semesters. There is rumor that we will be losing around 25 out of our class of 145. I feel so bad, because a lot of them are friends. :( The big thing is that I did well and honestly, I can only take care of myself.

Next, the hair--the curls are amazingly beautiful. I will try to take a picture (Phillip has my camera right now) when he gets back into town with my camera. I have spiraled, tight, springy curls--I get compliments all the time. I am so glad that I took the time to embrace what I have naturally.

Lastly, there isn't much wedding stuff going on. I wish I could say there was more, but with everything going on I haven't had much time for fun. I am not thrilled with the colors we picked, we're going to have to play again (I know Phillip is thrilled...not!). Luckily, Phillip is a trooper so I am very thankful for that.

That's all I really have time for, I should be working on my 30 page OB paper--I'm off!

Here is Wilson's obituary, we all wrote it together on the afternoon he passed away:
Wilson Franklin Nesom

ORLANDO, FLA. - Wilson Franklin Nesom passed away on October 11, 2009, he had bravely battled cancer for 10 months and 2 days. He served proudly in the United States Navy before receiving his Bachelors degree in Chemistry from Louisiana College. He put his degree to work at BASF in Wyandotte, Mich. He was greeted in heaven by Albert Einstein and Arvie Electra Red. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years, Sherry Ann of Ocoee, Tenn.; and his three loving children, Jessica Renee, 34, Allisha Sue, 26, and Phillip Brandon 25; and his adoring grandson, Zachary Thomas, 8. He will be laid to rest in Ocoee, Tenn on October 17. A memorial service will be held in his honor in Canton, Mich., on October 31, 2009. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in his name to MD Anderson Cancer Center, Orlando.

I was wondering if you fell off the planet... or into books. So sorry to hear about his dad, but from what you've written in previous posts, I'm sure all the physical pain he endured was worse. Y'all have my sympathies. Glad to see you're back and passed with flying colors!

I was wondering where you went. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I know he is not in pain anymore! Hope your life slows down a little soon!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss but glad that y'all got to spend some time with him before. I can't wait to see what your hair looks like, I bet it is sooo purdy! Don't stay gone too long!

It is so good to hear from you again. I stop by often, but know that life is busy.

I am especially sorry to hear of the loss of Phillip's dad. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. The obituary was so nice.

OB? You will have to let me know how you liked it sometime.

All the best to you my friend.

Sherry and Wilson were our neighbors and friends in San Diego. My first husband and I split up and I lost track of the Nesoms. This morning they popped into my head for some reason and I am so sorry to see that Wilson is gone. Maybe not a good time to call Sherry but I will keep her and the rest of the family in my prayers.
